Ethics & Compliance
Our commitment
At Née de Soie, thoughtful sourcing begins with the materials we choose and the information we request from our suppliers. We seek clear documentation about fiber composition, origin, production methods, and any certifications associated with a product.
We review certification information at the product level and describe only the standards that apply to that specific item.
Animal welfare and silk
For silk products, our sourcing preference is Ahimsa Silk, also known as Peace Silk: a production method in which the silkworm moth is allowed to emerge from its cocoon before the silk is collected.
We will describe an item as Ahimsa or Peace Silk only when the supplier’s documentation supports that claim.
Textile certifications
Depending on the material and the specific product, relevant certifications may include:
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, for textiles tested for harmful substances according to their intended use.
GOTS, for qualifying certified organic textiles and their processing.
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), for qualifying wool supply chains and animal-welfare criteria.
Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ or Masters of LINEN™, for qualifying flax and linen origin and traceability.
These standards cover different things. A textile safety test does not guarantee that a product is hypoallergenic or suitable for every individual.
Supplier information
We ask suppliers to provide accurate information about materials, production methods, and applicable certifications. Certification claims are made only when we can verify that the documentation applies to the product being offered.
For questions about a material or its certification, please contact us at contact@needesoie.com.
